The primary function of the Centre is to facilitate granting of affiliation and to process necessary allied matters pertaining to the Engineering Colleges under its jurisdiction encompassing Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Erode, Karur, Krishnagiri, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Salem and Tirupur districts of Tamil Nadu.

Centre for Affiliation of institutions, through its mechanism of periodic inspections and evaluation, provides opportunities to the colleges to improve their standards in terms infrastructural facilities and the quality of education they provide and to gain recognition from the University in the form of provisional and permanent affiliation, which can in turn enable the institutions, attain quality improvement. This system motivates the affiliated institutions to achieve academic excellence on par with global standards by guiding them to equip themselves with qualified faculty and state-of-the-art infrastructure, so as to produce competent engineers to meet the indigenous and global requirements.
